Description

The Audio Technician will play a crucial role in the representation of containR’s music productions, acting as on-site community, artist, and partner liaison.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and tear-down of site equipment such as generator, audio, lighting, and other soundboard equipment related to soundchecks and equipment troubleshooting
  • Act as a liaison between containR, the music community, and stakeholders in the music community in Calgary
  • Acts as a representative for Springboard Performance within the community, including attendance at other containR events, and community events
  • Build a cultural and provide opportunity for emerging and indie music artists at containR
  • Research and implement ways to connect neighbours to our programming by 1) encouraging attendance and, 2) encouraging conversation about programming 3) encourage connection and understanding of the performing artists;
  • Promotes the values and mission of containR, ensuring these are known and shared by the team members, artists, and partners
  • Evaluate existing containR Music programs and developing new content ideas with volunteers and staff
  • In collaboration with the Artistic & operations team, contribute to the organisation’s strategic plan for on-site music
  • Manage music-focused meeting schedules, attend meetings as required, and maintain meeting documents
  • Review and assess technical riders and stage plots provided by artists, recommend required equipment rentals, and execute artist production needs on-site

Qualifications

  • Familiar with production and audio equipment and safety is essential
  • An understanding and appreciation of the music scene in Calgary, comprehensive understanding and appreciation of campus/community radio
  • Ability to critically assess potential programming and interviews in an ethical and timely manner
  • Self-motivated and willing to initiate projects
  • Being an open-minded individual, creative thinker, and excellent communicator
  • A progressive attitude, good stress management, multi-tasking and organization skills are a must
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace
  • Basic knowledge of performing arts and venue services

Details

Employment length: 9 weeks working Wednesday to Sunday (Monday and Tuesday off)

Location: Calgary, mainly on-site in Sunnyside at containR Art Park

Employment type: Part time

Hours per week: 30

Compensation: $17/hour
